The 2026 Ram 1500 HEMI Light Bar: Why the V8 Needs Its Own Kit

2026+ RAM 1500 HEMI with the M&R 40in PRO LED light bar mounted in the grille

When Ram brought the 5.7L HEMI V8 back for 2026, it did something most owners never noticed: it quietly changed the front of the truck. If you've got a 2026 Ram 1500 HEMI and tried to order the same light bar that fits the Hurricane-powered trucks, you already found out the hard way — it doesn't bolt up. Here's why, and the kit we built specifically for the V8.

Why the HEMI needs its own light bar

The 2025+ Ram 1500 runs the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo six. When the HEMI V8 returned for 2026, the engine swap brought a revised front end behind the grille — most notably a different active grille shutter arrangement to feed the bigger V8's cooling needs. Our Hurricane bracket was engineered around the six-cylinder layout, so it won't clear the HEMI's hardware.

That's the whole reason the 2026+ RAM 1500 HEMI light bar exists as its own kit. Same sleek, curved bar across the grille — but the bracket is re-shaped to fit the V8 truck. One nice upgrade along the way: on the HEMI bar, the bar doesn't cover any of the grille openings at all, so you keep full radiator airflow and factory cooling. It's still a complete bolt-on — no cutting, no drilling.

Quick fitment check: this kit is for the 2026+ Ram 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI V8 (Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Warlock, Laramie, Limited). Running the 3.0L Hurricane instead? You want the 2025+ Ram 1500 bar. The Tungsten has a one-piece bumper and isn't covered by either.

PRO or SLIM

Same bar, same fit — the difference is optics and output.

The PRO uses a TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens, a Combo spot-plus-driving beam, a 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management for the tightest, longest throw — in White or Yellow, always with a street-safe amber DRL. The SLIM is the value build: a wide Spot + Flood pattern, up to 15,000 lumens in white, in White, Amber, or dual White + amber DRL. Here's how their beams compare, zone for zone:

Light the sides, too: HEMI ditch lights

A grille bar throws distance; ditch lights wash the sides — the corners your headlights miss when you're backing in or picking a line. We build HEMI-specific ditch pods in Standard and PRO, bolt-on with no drilling, hood opens freely.

White, yellow, or amber?

White is the brightest all-rounder; yellow (on the PRO) cuts dust, fog, snow, and rain with less glare; the amber DRL is a street-safe daytime accent, and the main beams are off-road only. Not sure which to pick? We broke it down in White vs Yellow vs Amber Light Bars.

Install & wiring

The grille comes off to seat the bracket, then goes right back on with the bar in place. One HEMI-specific tip from owners: you'll pull the active shutter system on the passenger side to clear the bracket. As one put it, "you remove the shutter system on a 2026 Ram, but no big deal." (M.G.)

Here's the full install, start to finish:

The bar has 6+ feet of wire to reach factory AUX switches. No AUX? The easiest route is our Wireless 8-Switch Harness — no aux switches, no wires through the firewall. Full how-to: wiring a light bar without AUX switches.

FAQ: 2026 Ram 1500 HEMI Light Bar

Will the 2025 Ram 1500 light bar fit my 2026 HEMI?
No. The 2025+ bar is built for the 3.0L Hurricane front end. The 2026 HEMI V8 has a different setup behind the grille, so it needs the dedicated 2026+ RAM 1500 HEMI light bar.

Which Ram trucks does the HEMI bar fit?
The 2026+ Ram 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI V8 — Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Warlock, Laramie, and Limited. It does not fit the Hurricane trucks or the Tungsten.

Do I have to cut or drill?
No. It's a complete bolt-on. The grille comes off to mount the bracket, then reinstalls — no cutting or drilling.

Does the bar block airflow to the radiator?
No. The HEMI bar doesn't cover any grille openings, so you keep full radiator airflow and factory cooling.

What's the difference between PRO and SLIM?
The PRO uses a TIR optic and Combo beam in White or Yellow with an amber DRL. The SLIM is the value build with a Spot + Flood pattern, up to 15,000 lumens, in White, Amber, or dual White + amber DRL.
