There have never been more Mercedes Sprinters on the road — adventure and camper builds, overland rigs, contractor vans, delivery fleets. And nearly all share one blind spot after dark: factory headlights built for a lit highway, on a tall van that lives backing into dark campsites and loading before sunrise.
Here's what matters if you own one: you probably built your Sprinter yourself. Sprinter owners are DIY people, and nobody who spent months on a build wants to drill into it. So we built this lighting the same way you build everything else: bolt-on, no drilling, no cutting, and no wires through the firewall. This is every Sprinter kit we make and how each installs — all for the 2019–2026 Sprinter.
Why Sprinter owners add lighting
A Sprinter goes places a normal van doesn't, and that's where factory lighting runs out:
- Nothing down the trail. Your headlights light the next thirty feet; a grille bar reaches far out ahead.
- Nothing to the sides. Backing a tall van into a campsite or job site, the corners stay black. Ditch lights wash the sides — where the tree, rock, or drop-off is.
- Nothing at camp. Setting up in the dark, you want to flood the front of the van with one button.
Built for DIY: the easiest system to install on a Sprinter
This is the whole point. "Universal" van lighting means brackets that don't quite fit, a bag of shims, and — worst of all — drilling your van and fishing wires through the firewall. We engineered every kit around the actual van so you never do any of that:
- No drilling, no cutting. Every kit bolts on using factory bolts and openings already on your van. Zero holes.
- No grille removal. The bar mounts on top of the grille under the hood line — grille stays on, hood latch stays accessible.
- Hardware + a video in every kit. Powder-coated brackets, all hardware, a step-by-step video. Basic tools, an afternoon.
- No firewall wires. The Sprinter has no factory aux switches — our wireless harness (below) means you never drill or run a wire through the firewall to power any of it.
If you built your van, you can do this yourself. That's how it's designed.
The grille light bar — built-in look, no grille removal
The centerpiece is a curved 40-inch SLIM bar that mounts along the top of the grille, tucked under the hood line for a factory-integrated look. It covers only a small part of the grille opening, so the mesh stays open for full radiator airflow. Spot + Flood pattern, and you choose output: White (up to 15,000 lm, the all-rounder), Amber (up to 7,000 lm, cuts dust/fog/snow/rain better), or White + Amber DRL (full white beam plus a street-safe amber daytime backglow). CREE XT-E optics, UV black powder coat, 50,000-hour rating. Main beams are off-road only; the amber DRL is street-safe. From $349.99.
Ditch lights — light the sides
Ditch lights mount low at the base of the side mirrors and throw light to the sides — where your headlights and grille bar can't reach maneuvering a tall van. Fully adjustable aim, bolt-on, no drilling, hood opens freely, clears the wipers. 3/16" steel brackets. Two versions:
Standard runs a focused Spot beam (white + amber DRL). PRO steps up to a wider Driving beam, your choice of White or Yellow, plus a TIR lens, 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management. Both bridge the pods with an included harness and run the street-safe amber DRL, and both are available brackets-only for custom builds (fit 3.2" pods; final sale).
The wireless harness — the game changer for a van build
Here's what nobody tells you before adding lights to a Sprinter: it has no factory aux switch wiring. Normally that means the dreaded job — running power through the firewall into the cab to a bank of switches. On a finished van, that's the last thing you want.
Our Wireless 8-Switch Harness 2.0 erases that. It powers your lights with no aux switches and no wires through the firewall, run from a rechargeable magnetic remote in the cab. For a DIY Sprinter it's the single biggest shortcut there is. And it's not just lights — it runs 8 circuits and up to 100 total amps, so it becomes the power brain for the whole 12V build: light bars, ditch lights, camp lights, rock lights, water pump, air compressor, USB ports, and more. One remote, zero holes drilled.
The custom Sprinter mounting plate
The obvious question: where does the harness go? We built a custom mounting plate for the Sprinter engine bay — a secure, factory-looking home for the Wireless Harness 2.0 instead of zip-ties. It bolts on with 2 factory bolts (zero holes drilled), has an open-bottom design so wires route straight through, and it's 11-gauge metal, powder-coated black. Fits the 2.0 harness (not the 1.0). At $59.99, it's the small part that makes the whole install look factory. Here's the install:
However you power it, wire the white/yellow main beam to a switch (off-road only) and the amber DRL to a constant/ignition source so it runs as a street-safe daytime accent. No AUX and no harness? You can also source a generic relay/switch harness or build your own.
FAQ: Mercedes Sprinter LED Lighting
Do I have to drill into my van?
No. Every kit bolts on using factory bolts and openings — zero holes. The bar also needs no grille removal (it mounts under the hood line, hood latch stays accessible).
The Sprinter has no aux switches — how do I power the lights?
No factory aux wiring, so lights need a power source (sold separately). Easiest is our Wireless 8-Switch Harness 2.0 — no aux switches, no firewall wires. A generic harness or DIY also work.
What's the mounting plate for?
It gives the Wireless Harness 2.0 a secure, factory-looking home in the engine bay, bolting to 2 factory bolts with no drilling. Fits the 2.0 only.
Can the harness power more than lights?
Yes — 8 circuits, up to 100 amps: camp lights, rock lights, water pump, air compressor, USB, and more, all from one wireless remote.
Which years and trims fit?
The 2019–2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in all body styles (Cargo, Crew, Passenger) and configurations (1500/2500/3500/3500XD, RWD/AWD/4x4). Unsure about your van? Send a photo of the front end and we'll confirm.
