The Wireless Switch Harness, Explained — 8 Circuits, Zero Firewall Drilling

Here's the part of a lighting build nobody posts about. The light kit bolts on in thirty minutes. Then you spend the rest of the afternoon on your back under the dash, trying to find a grommet in the firewall, fishing a wire through it, and hoping you didn't just drill into something expensive.

That's the job the wireless harness deletes. Eight switched circuits, a magnetic remote that lives in your cab, and not one wire through the firewall. Here's how it works, what the specs actually mean, and how to pick between our 1.0 and 2.0.

What a wireless switch harness actually is

A switch harness is the power-and-control backbone of your build. The fuse box mounts in the engine bay and feeds off the battery; your accessories plug into it; and a switch panel lets you turn each one on and off.

The traditional version means running a physical cable from that engine-bay box, through the firewall, and up to a switch panel on your dash. That firewall pass-through is where most DIY installs get slow, messy, or nerve-wracking.

A wireless harness cuts that cable entirely. The control box still lives in the engine bay and still does the real work — fusing, switching, protecting each circuit. But the controller talks to it wirelessly, so it just lives in your cab. Magnetic back, sticks wherever you want it, rechargeable over USB-C. Nothing to route, nothing to drill.

If your truck already has factory AUX switches, great — use them. This is for everyone else: trucks without upfitter switches, older rigs, or anyone who just doesn't want to take a drill to their firewall.

What you get in the box

Both run 12V–24V DC, handle 1,200 watts max, and are plug-and-play: connect the accessory, assign it a key, done. And it isn't lighting-only — the same eight circuits will run an air compressor, a fridge, a winch accessory, or a rear work light just as happily.

Wireless 1.0 vs 2.0: which one do you need?

This is the real decision, so here's the honest breakdown.

Wireless 8 Switches Harness 1.0 — $169.99
Eight circuits: two 5-amp, two 10-amp, two 20-amp, and two 30-amp. Max current rating of 80 amps. Weatherproof fuse box with rubber gasket and epoxy fill, plus built-in protection against overloads and shorts.

This is the right call for a straightforward lighting build — a light bar, ditch lights, fog lights, maybe a reverse kit. The mix of small 5-amp circuits is handy for low-draw accessories.

Wireless 8 Switches Harness 2.0 — $214.99
Eight circuits, but reallocated for heavier loads: three 10-amp, two 20-amp, and three 30-amp. Max current rating jumps to 100 amps. The housing is a different animal too — die-cast aviation aluminum, UV-resistant powder coating, and an internal thermally conductive compound that pulls heat out of the circuitry faster.

The 2.0 is the pick if you're running more or bigger accessories, if you leave the truck parked for long stretches, or if you camp off the battery. The reason for that last one is the next section.

The 2.0's real party trick: it protects your battery

Every off-roader knows the walk of shame — coming back to camp and finding a dead battery because something drew power all night. The 2.0 has four protection systems built in specifically to prevent that:

Sleep mode. If input voltage drops below 13V and the box sits inactive for six hours (default), it shuts all loads down and stops responding until voltage climbs back above 13V. Passive drain, eliminated.

Low-voltage protection. Below 12.2V for more than 30 minutes, everything shuts off — and stays off until voltage recovers past 13V.

Ultra-low-voltage protection. Below 11.6V, you get ten seconds before it kills all loads. That's the emergency backstop that leaves you enough juice to actually start the truck.

High-temperature protection. If the center of the control board passes roughly 100°C, it shuts everything down before heat does damage.

None of that is marketing garnish. Those thresholds are the difference between a fun night at camp and a recovery call in the morning.

Installation: what to expect

This is the easiest part of any build, and that's the whole point. Mount the control box in the engine bay, connect it to the battery, plug your accessories into the circuits, stick the magnetic plate wherever you want it in the cab, and label your keys with the sticker sheet.

No firewall drilling. No fishing wires behind the dash. No pulling trim panels. If you can connect a battery terminal, you can do this in your driveway, and it scales — add the light bar now, the ditch lights next month, the compressor next year, all on the same system.

FAQ: Wireless Switch Harness

Do I need a wireless harness if my truck has factory AUX switches?
No. If your truck came with factory upfitter/AUX switches, our kits plug straight into them. The wireless harness is for trucks without them, or for anyone who wants to avoid running a wire through the firewall.

How many accessories can it run?
Eight separate circuits, each with its own key on the remote. Both versions handle up to 1,200 watts total.

What's the difference between the 1.0 and the 2.0?
The 1.0 ($169.99) has an 80-amp max rating with circuits of 5, 10, 20, and 30 amps. The 2.0 ($214.99) steps up to a 100-amp max rating with heavier circuits (10, 20, and 30 amp), an aviation-aluminum housing, and four battery-protection systems: sleep mode, low-voltage, ultra-low-voltage, and high-temperature shutdown.

Will it drain my battery?
The 2.0 is specifically built to prevent that, with sleep mode and low-voltage cutoffs that shut all loads down before your battery gets too low to start the truck.

Is it weatherproof?
Yes. Both versions use a fuse box sealed with a rubber gasket and epoxy. The 2.0 adds a die-cast aviation aluminum housing with UV-resistant powder coating built for extreme off-road conditions.

Can it run things other than lights?
Yes. It's universally compatible — air compressors, fridges, and other 12V–24V accessories all work, as long as you stay within each circuit's amp rating.
