The Complete Guide to LED Lighting for Your RAM 1500 TRX

The RAM 1500 TRX earned its nickname the honest way. With a 702-horsepower supercharged HEMI V8, it's "the apex predator of the truck world" — a 6,000-pound half-ton that hits 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and was built from the ground up to fly across the desert. But even the most savage factory truck ever built has one weak spot: when the sun goes down, its headlights light up a whole lot less than its capability deserves.

That's the gap this guide closes. Below is every LED lighting kit M&R Automotive builds for the TRX — grille light bars, fog lights, ditch lights, a reverse light, and RamBar bed lighting — with honest specs, how each wires up, and how to pick the right setup for how you actually run your truck.

A quick word on the RAM 1500 TRX

If you own one, you already know. But the numbers still stop people cold. The TRX runs a 6.2L supercharged HEMI V8 making 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft, backed by an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic. That's good for 0–60 in 4.5 seconds, a quarter mile in 12.9, and a 118-mph top speed — in a full-size truck.

It backs the power with real desert hardware: a widebody stance on 35-inch tires, adaptive Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shocks, and around 13 inches of wheel travel, so it can be driven hard off-road, not just launched in a straight line. Built from 2021 through 2024 and sent off with the collectible Final Edition, the TRX cemented RAM as North America's off-road performance leader. It's a truck engineered to leave the pavement at speed — which is exactly why its lighting is worth taking seriously.

Where the TRX's factory lighting runs out

Factory headlights are tuned for one job: lighting a paved road at legal speeds. On a truck this fast off-road, that envelope runs out quickly:

  • Not enough distance. When you can hit highway speeds in the dirt, you out-drive your headlights fast — you're covering ground before you can see what's on it.
  • Nothing to the sides. Stock beams point forward and down. Whoops, washes, and the edges of a two-track stay black — right where trouble shows up first.
  • Weak where you work. Backing to a trailer or setting up camp, the factory reverse and low beams just don't put light where you need it.

A grille bar throws distance down the trail, ditch lights fill the corners, fogs cut the dust, and a reverse light finally makes backing up in the dark usable. Here's how M&R covers all of it.

M&R's RAM 1500 TRX LED lineup

This is one of the deepest lineups we build for any truck — front to back. Every kit fits the 2021–2024 RAM 1500 TRX, and every one is a complete bolt-on with no cutting or drilling, using factory openings and hardware with powder-coated black brackets.

Grille light bars

23in Light Bar SLIM — the clean grille bar. A curved 23-inch bar that drops into the factory opening between the grille and bumper for a built-in look (remove the grille, not the bumper). Choose White, Amber, or the dual White + amber DRL. From $274.99.

23in Light Bar PRO — the premium grille bar. The same curved 23-inch fitment, upgraded to a TIR (total internal reflection) optic for a tighter, longer-throwing beam, a 304-aluminum housing, and a thermal-management system. Runs a White + amber DRL or Yellow + amber DRL. From $419.99.

Single 40in Light Bar — maximum output. A full 40-inch bar for the widest, brightest wall of light — White up to 15,000 lumens, Amber up to 7,000 lumens, or dual White + amber DRL. (Install calls for a minimal trim of the plastic cowl; there's a video to walk you through it.) From $349.99.

Fog lights

TRX Fog Light Kit. A driver-and-passenger kit that replaces the factory fogs with a dual-color setup — a White main beam up to 12,000 lumens plus a street-safe amber DRL that matches RAM's accent lighting. Bolt-on, no drilling. From $549.99.

Ditch lights

Ditch lights bolt to the cowl and fill in everything the grille bar can't — the sides, the corners, the ditches. Both kits are low-profile and fully adjustable, the hood still opens freely, and they clear the wipers.

The TRX Ditch Lights run a spot pattern for focused reach, White with an amber DRL backglow. From $109.99. The TRX Ditch Lights PRO step up to a wider, longer driving pattern for more coverage, same dual-color look. From $99.99. Both come as a complete kit or brackets-only (brackets are built for 3.2-inch pods; brackets-only orders are final sale).

Reverse light

TRX Reverse Light. A pair of flood-pattern pods that add serious white light behind the truck — because the factory reverse bulb just isn't enough at a dark campsite or trailer. You choose an amber or red backlight that can be wired as a turn signal (or, on the red, a brake light). Built with the same TIR optic, 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management as our PRO series. From $229.99.

RamBar bed lights

TRX RamBar Lights. For the full chase-rig look, this is a 7-light kit made to mount on the RAM RamBar or another bed cage. Each light is a massive 80 watts (560W for the kit) at 6,800 lumens, available in spot or flood, and dual-function White + amber DRL. Note: this kit is the lights and hardware only — it mounts to a RamBar or bed cage you already have (or add brackets), not a bar itself. $1,200.

White, yellow, or amber? Choosing your beam

Most TRX kits let you pick your output, so here's the short version:

  • White is the brightest, longest-throwing, most natural light — the default for open, fast running. Off-road use only; it's far too bright to point at oncoming traffic.
  • Yellow / Amber punches through dust, fog, snow, and rain far better and cuts glare-back — the reason desert racers have run yellow for decades. Also off-road use only as a main beam.
  • The amber DRL (on the PRO bars, fogs, ditch lights, and RamBar, and as the dual-function option on the SLIM bar) is a cosmetic, street-safe daytime accent — and it's tuned to match RAM's factory accent lighting, so you can run that look anywhere.

Wiring it up: AUX switches or the wireless harness

With this many accessories, control matters. If your TRX has factory auxiliary switches, the kits plug right in. But once you're running a bar, fogs, ditch lights, a reverse light, and a RamBar, you'll likely want more channels than the factory switches offer — that's where the Wireless 8 Switches Harness 2.0 comes in. It runs up to 8 accessories from one rechargeable, magnetic wireless remote in the cab, with no firewall pass-through and no splicing into factory wiring. From $214.99.

Install tips & what to watch out for

  • Fitment is TRX-specific. These kits are engineered for the 2021–2024 RAM 1500 TRX's unique widebody front end. Order the TRX listings, not standard RAM 1500 parts.
  • Know what comes off. The 23-inch grille bars need the grille removed (not the bumper). The 40-inch bar needs a minimal trim of the plastic cowl — there's an install video for it.
  • Aim your ditch pods before final tighten. They're fully adjustable — dial in straight-ahead reach vs. side coverage first.
  • The RamBar kit is lights-only. You'll need a RamBar or bed cage to mount to (plus light brackets or a direct through-mount). Plan that before you order.
  • Pick your reverse backlight with wiring in mind. Red can be wired as a brake light; amber as a turn signal — decide based on how you want it to function.
  • Mind the beam laws. Run White and Yellow main beams off-road only; the amber (and the red brake function) are the only parts meant to be on around traffic.

So which TRX setup should you get?

FAQ: RAM 1500 TRX LED Lighting

Which years do these fit?
Our TRX kits are built for the 2021–2024 RAM 1500 TRX and its unique widebody front end. Order the TRX-specific listings rather than standard RAM 1500 parts.

Do I have to cut or drill anything?
No. Every kit is a complete bolt-on using factory openings and hardware. The 23-inch grille bars need the grille off, and the 40-inch bar needs a minimal trim of the plastic cowl (there's a video), but there's no drilling.

What's the difference between the PRO and SLIM grille bars?
The PRO bar uses a TIR optic, a 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management for a tighter, longer-throwing beam, in White or Yellow with an amber DRL. The SLIM is the value pick — White, Amber, or dual White + amber DRL.

What's the difference between the standard and PRO ditch lights?
The standard ditch lights run a spot pattern for focused reach; the PRO ditch lights run a wider, longer driving pattern for more coverage. Both are dual-color White + amber DRL.

What is the RamBar kit, exactly?
It's a 7-light kit (80W and 6,800 lumens each, spot or flood) made to mount on the RAM RamBar or another bed cage. It includes the lights and hardware only — not the bar itself — so you'll need a RamBar or bed cage to mount to.

How do I power all of this without messing with factory wiring?
If your TRX has factory aux switches, the kits plug in. For running several accessories at once, the M&R Wireless 8-Switch Harness controls up to 8 lights from a wireless in-cab remote — no firewall pass-through, no splicing.

Are the lights street-legal?
The amber DRL accents are street-safe and can be run on the road (and the reverse light's red backlight can be wired as a brake light). The high-output White and Yellow main beams are for off-road use only.
