The Complete Guide to LED Light Bars for Your Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD (2020–2026)

Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD with the M&R dual 40in PRO LED light bars mounted in the grille on the rail system

The Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD are built to work after the sun goes down — towing a gooseneck down a dark county road, plowing before dawn, running a ranch or a job site at night. But the one thing even a loaded High Country Duramax comes up short on is light. Factory headlights are aimed for a marked highway, not the places an HD actually earns its keep.

This guide covers every bolt-on LED light bar M&R builds for the 2020–2026 Silverado 2500/3500 HD — 30-inch and 40-inch bars in SLIM and PRO, single or dual. Everything mounts on a grille rail system using factory hardware. No cutting, no drilling.

PRO vs SLIM

Every size comes in two builds. The difference is optics and output.

PRO — the brightest, longest-throwing build

The PRO uses a TIR optic for a tighter, longer beam, a 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management. Pick a White or Yellow main beam, always with a street-safe amber DRL. The main beams are off-road only. Available as a Single 40in or Dual 40s.

SLIM — lower profile, lower price

The SLIM keeps a friendlier price with a wide Spot + Flood pattern. Choose White, Amber, or dual White + amber DRL. Available as a Single 30in, Single 40in, or Dual 40s.

Single, dual, or 30-inch?

A single 40 fills the grille cleanly; the dual 40s run two bars for the widest wall of light (mix a white throwing beam with an amber weather beam). The single 30in ($284.99) is the subtle, budget way in.

Installation

Every HD kit mounts on an adjustable rail system that sets the bar's height in the grille. The grille comes off during install to seat the rail cleanly, then goes right back on with the bar in place — no cutting, no drilling. The slim housing and bracket are designed to clear the active grille shutters, so they keep working normally (important on Duramax trucks). Most installs take an evening with basic tools. Full install:

Wiring & control

Each bar comes with over 6 feet of wire — enough to reach your HD's AUX / upfitter switch wiring if equipped. No AUX switches? Source a generic harness, or use the Wireless 8-Switch Harness — it powers the lights with no AUX switches and no wires through the firewall, from a rechargeable remote in the cab. Wire the white/yellow main beam to a switch (off-road only) and the amber DRL to a constant/ignition source. Connection guide:

What HD owners are saying

The PRO bar is rated 5.0 stars:

"Fits perfectly behind the grille and doesn't interfere with the active shutters. With my tinted windshield at night, I can finally see again." — Anonymous (2022 High Country Duramax)

"The light bar fit perfectly and works great." — D.U.

FAQ: Silverado 2500/3500 HD Light Bars

Do I have to cut or drill?
No. The bar mounts on an adjustable rail system using factory hardware. The grille comes off to seat the rail during install, then reinstalls — no cutting or drilling.

Will it interfere with the active grille shutters?
No. The slim bar and bracket are designed to clear the shutters, so they keep opening and closing normally.

What's the difference between PRO and SLIM?
The PRO uses a TIR optic, 304-aluminum housing, and thermal management (White or Yellow + amber DRL). The SLIM is the value build with a wide Spot + Flood pattern (White, Amber, or dual). Both come as single or dual.

How do I power the lights?
6+ feet of wire reaches factory AUX switches; no AUX means a generic harness or the M&R Wireless 8-Switch Harness (no firewall drilling).

Which trucks fit?
The 2020–2026 Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD, gas or Duramax. Different grille (like a ZR2)? Send a photo and we'll confirm.
