The 2027 Ford Super Duty Brings the Off-Road Build to the Factory — 35s and All

The 2027 Ford Super Duty Brings the Off-Road Build to the Factory — 35s and All

For years, the story was the same: buy a Super Duty, then spend the next six months at the shop adding the lift, the lockers, and the 35s to make it trail-ready. For 2027, Ford looked at what its customers were building on their own — and decided to build it at the factory instead.

The result is the widest off-road expansion in Super Duty history. The Tremor package spreads across the whole lineup, base work trucks can now be ordered on 35-inch tires, and the long-bed crowd finally gets the hardware they've been asking for. Here's what's new — and why a factory-tough truck still isn't finished until you light it up.

Tremor goes everywhere — including the base XL

The headline for 2027 is access. The Tremor Off-Road Package — previously locked to pricier trims — is now available across all five Super Duty trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. On the base XL, it pairs with the STX Appearance Package to create the cheapest entry into a factory Tremor that Ford has ever offered.

The hardware is the real deal, unchanged from what made Tremor a name: 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires on 18-inch wheels, a factory suspension lift, an electronic locking rear differential, a limited-slip front differential, performance shocks, skid plates for the transfer case and fuel tank, water-fording vent tubes, and off-road drive modes including Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Rock Crawl Mode. Ford was blunt about why the barrier dropped: buyers were already grabbing lower trims and modifying them, so Ford brought it from the factory — warrantied and integrated from day one. Note that Tremor requires a 4x4 Crew Cab, is single-rear-wheel only, and isn't offered on the F-450.

Finally: Tremor with an 8-foot bed

If there's one request Super Duty owners have made louder than any other, it's this one. For 2027, the Tremor package is available on Crew Cab models with the 176-inch wheelbase and full 8-foot bed — no more choosing between a real cargo box and factory off-road capability. Ford pairs that configuration with an available 48-gallon fuel tank, the largest ever fitted to a Super Duty, which turns the long-bed Tremor into a legitimate overlanding and remote-worksite hauler. For anyone who tows for work during the week and heads off-grid on the weekend, this is the configuration that finally does both.

A work truck on 35s: the new XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package

This one's the sleeper. Ford now offers an XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package — factory 35-inch tires on a bare-bones XL work truck, with no decals or branding. It's built for arborists, forestry crews, mining engineers, and utility fleets who told Ford the old 33-inch package didn't give them enough ground clearance, and who apply their own graphics.

It's a serious hardware list: a factory ride-height increase, limited-slip front differential, electronic locking rear differential, performance shocks, transfer-case and fuel-tank skid plates, and the full Trail Control / Trail Turn Assist / Rock Crawl Mode suite, plus a full-size matching 35-inch spare. The old 33-inch package sticks around, renamed the XL Off-Road 33-Inch Tire Package, creating a clean two-tier off-road menu at the base trim. Both can be paired with an available Ford Performance 12,000-lb Warn winch.

One more thing: Platinum reaches the Chassis Cab

Not off-road, but worth noting if you're building a serious rig: for the first time, the top-tier Platinum trim is available on the F-350, F-450, and F-550 Chassis Cab. Those are the trucks that become tow rigs, horse haulers, and expedition builds — and now the cab can feel as premium as the six-figure build behind it, with leather and SYNC 4.

Factory-tough, but not factory-finished: the lighting gap

Here's the thing Ford didn't put in the press release. You can now roll a Super Duty off the lot on 35s, with lockers, skid plates, and a factory lift — genuinely trail-ready hardware. But look at the front of that truck and you'll notice what's missing: real lighting. Factory headlights are built for a lit highway, not a moonless forestry road or a rutted ag field at 5 a.m.

That's the one part of the build the factory still leaves to you. A front bumper LED light bar throws usable light far enough down the trail to matter at speed, and ditch lights wash the sides — exactly where a stump, a washout, or a cattle gate shows up when you're working off-pavement in the dark. On a truck Ford engineered to actually go there, lighting isn't a cosmetic add-on. It's the piece that lets you use the capability you paid for after sundown.

We build kits specifically for these trucks. Our Ford Super Duty LED light kits cover light bars, ditch lights, and pods sized for the Super Duty's grille and bumper — whether you're running a new 2027 Tremor or an earlier F-250 or F-350. Bolt-on fitment, built to survive the same terrain the truck was built for.
